Featured Towns: ASTORIA Like chasing after pirate's gold? Up for an adventure to end all adventures? Are you really a GOONIE deep in your heart? Then, this town is for you! Home of the Goon-docks. There is the Astoria Column, a 125-foot pole that depicts the history of the North West. Several other movies have been filmed in Astoria including Kindergarten Cop, Free Willy, Short Circuit and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III. Just watch out for the Italian singing restaurateurs who serve tongue.
BANDON Love to sea kayak? golf? look for agates? explore caves? Relax and listen to the waves and the seals? Then Bandon is for you! Also called "Bandon By The Sea". The name is self explanatory. You can have fun for weeks here. Oh, and don't forget to visit the lighthouses in the area.
LANGLOIS - This is a must see small town. First of all you have got to stop at Lee's grocery (it's the only grocery in Langlois) and get some meatballs on a stick. My kids still talk about how good they are. And while you're there, get some of his homemade mustard, it is out of this world. Then there is Flores Lake, one of the best spots in the world for windsurfing. Don't worry one of Langlois' few shops is a Windsurf shop. If you go east down flores river from 101 you'll find a bridge. Underneath is what's special. It is the local swimming hole! The water is amazingly warm. Next check out some of the antique stores, if you want to hear some spooky tales ask the owner of Raincoast Arts to tell you about the "RED HOUSE" and the "Lady in White". I know it's true, I saw her, and her dog. PORT ORFORD - Just South of Bandon on 101 is Port Orford. This is a town rich in history and deep in mystery. From Battle Rock (where Indians put a hundred year curse on the town) to the Port Orford Meteorite (a lost meteor that is thought to be worth millions). This small town has it all.
